Christopher Peter Meloni (born Christopher Peter Meloni) is an American actor who is best known as a star of the well-known TV series 'Law & Order Special Victims Unit. His passion for acting started in his early college days. He was a student of acting at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has been in films and television, but it was his small-screen characters that brought him fame and an enormous fan base. His ability to portray characters on both sides of law has captured the attention of audiences. His first television production, he played a serial murderer. In later projects, he was the character of an NYPD detective. Because of his appearances on smaller screens, he's been awarded numerous nominations for the prestigious Emmy Awards as well as PRISM Awards. One of his most distinctive facial features is said to be his piercing blue eyes which have allowed him to portray characters who have a rough, charismatic look. The People's Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive 2006 featured the actor.
